Woman Dyes Hair Blue, Not Prepared for What Dog Does First Time He Sees It

When Scarlett Allen decided to change her hair color, she wasn't expecting the heartwarming reaction of her dog.

In a TikTok video posted on @ghostk1ns, which has received more than 2.2 million views, Allen, who lives in Florida, shared the touching response from her rescue pet Juniper. "Right after I dyed my hair blue, my dog saw it for the first time. She started kissing my face so much, and her eyes got so wide. Now I know why," Allen said in the viral clip.

Juniper, affectionately known as June, is a rescue dog just under 2 years old. She was saved by the Rags to Riches Animal Rescue in Tampa after being found with her sister trapped in a small rabbit cage on a farm. "Her sister had a broken foot, and we believe June had a broken tail from cows stepping on them. Her sister has been rescued as well," Allen told Newsweek.

Since coming to live with her new family, June has been thriving, and her reaction to her owner's new hairstyle was an adorable moment for all.

"I started dying my hair when I was in second or third grade. I grew up with a mom who loved to dye her own hair, and she put me in all sorts of fun hairstyles," Allen said. Her love for vibrant hair colors has only grown since then, with over 30 different ones under her belt.

When Allen decided it was time for another change, she opted for a bright blue: "I wanted a super bright blue that would last me the rest of the summer," she said.

However, it was the reaction from Juniper that melted her heart. Then she remembered something. "Something in me remembered that dogs only see shades of yellow and blue," Allen said.

Indeed, pups have a more-limited color vision compared to humans. They can primarily distinguish between blue and yellow, while shades of red and green appear more like browns and grays. This might explain June's enthusiastic reaction to Allen's new hair color.

In the comments, people shared their reactions and delight at June's response to the new hairstyle.

"She's telling you 'It's so pretty,'" wrote Miss Moo, while Rose posted: "This might've been the push I needed to dye my hair blue."

"Dying my hair blue tonight," agreed viewer Abby.
