Woman Thinks She's Filming a Nice Workout Video, but Cat Has Other Plans
A viral video of a cat unexpectedly stealing the spotlight while a woman films a home workout video has floored users on TikTok.
The video posted by @fiokarin has amassed over 849,000 views since it was first shared on March 15.
The footage shows the woman performing leg exercises on a mat, and is overlaid with the message: "Me thinking I'm filming a nice home workout video. Also my cat."
In the background, a cat is seen jumping up and down against a window in the background while the woman, happily oblivious, continues her workout.
Whether it's a cat making a surprise appearance in a video shoot, such as in this viral clip, or a dog wanting attention during a business call, moments of unexpected interruptions have resonated with many, especially in recent years.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in people working from home, which has seen pets demand more of their owners' time and attention during work hours.
However, teleworking has shown to improve job performance and have a positive effect on people's life-work balance, particularly among pet owners, according to a July 2022 study in Animals.
The study found that those who work from home and own pets reported "higher levels of positive affect and self-reported performance, and perceived telework more positively," compared to those without pets.
Pets can play a significant role in reducing stress and increasing well-being for their owners.
"The presence of pets at work reduced stress, improved communication, and enhanced social cohesion," the Animals study noted. This is especially relevant since the pandemic, where the shift to remote work has blurred the boundaries between personal and professional life.
