Dogs' Reaction to Owner Sneaking Into Pool Without Them Delight Internet

A woman has shared the moment her two dogs discovered she went for a dip without them.

Racking up 1.4 million views on TikTok in just one day, she can be heard saying: "I am hiding in the pool," while filming the entrance to her backyard. She says, "We'll see how long it takes them to find me." Some 15 seconds later, the German shepherds appear.

The clip caption states that Zeus was "so mad" but it wasn't long until he forgave the owner as he dived straight in and began splashing around.

The wholesome video shared July 7 to an account dedicated to the dogs (@zeusandlunagsd) has amassed over 52,000 likes.

While it's clear that these dogs are strong swimmers, the owner states in another video that "thousands of people got MAD" that they were allowed in the pool. The text laid over the video explains people were messaging her to say that chlorine was harmful and the dogs aren't safe in the pool.

But according to The American Kennel Club (AKC), this is untrue. Dogs can swim in chlorine pools, but precautions are needed. While chlorine is generally safe, it can irritate dogs' skin, eyes, and ears. The main concern is consuming chlorine, as this could lead to something more sinister. Owners are encouraged to keep fresh water nearby to deter dogs from drinking the pool water.

The AKC states that monitoring for any signs of discomfort or health issues is crucial. Dogs should always be supervised when in the pool to ensure their safety and they should never be forced to swim. While dogs are natural swimmers, not all of them enjoy it. If this is the case, the AKC warns against throwing them in or making them swim against their own will.

In this case, it's clear Zeus and Luna enjoy swimming therefore it's unlikely the owner will ever get any alone time while in the pool. So far, the video has over 620 comments.

One user said: "There goes the quiet dip."

"The German Shepherd almost knocked the black one out of the way trying to get in the pool first! But the splashing as they swim is hilarious, especially the black pup, the paddling looks so frantic," laughed another user.

A third commenter said: "Dogs In pools is the BEST."

"I'M JEALOUS!! Mine wont even go near the pool," said a fourth user.

Dogs who fear water may change their tune on their own accord, like Aspen, a rescue dog, whose "biggest fear" was water until she decided to join her owner randomly one day in the ocean.
