Terrified Dog Tries To Get Upstairs, Can't Get Past Tiny Obstacle: 'Menace'

The rivalry between cats and dogs goes back a long way, but the internet has been left in stitches by a cat who appears to have won the battle.

TikTok user @gabriela9377 shared a hilarious clip of her American Staffie, named Luna, attempting to walk up the stairs, although there was one tiny hurdle getting in the way. In order to get to the top of the staircase, Luna had to pass a terrifying kitten that was perched halfway up. Despite being much larger, the poor pooch appears to be petrified.

Since the TikTok video was shared on July 6, it has delighted social media users who can't get enough of Luna's ongoing battle against the small kitten. In just a matter of days, the video has gained more than 3.4 million views and over 178,400 likes on TikTok.

Alongside the hilarious clip, the caption reads: "Luna had a rough morning today! Kitty is making sure she is left alone!"

The video ended disastrously for Luna, because as soon as the cat reacted slightly it spooked the dog, who went tumbling down the stairs and landed in a heap at the bottom.

While Luna and her feline nemesis still have a long way to go before they become friends, it is indeed possible to for cats and dogs to get along.

The Animal Humane Society recommends being patient and taking the introduction process very slowly to enable them to gradually grow accustomed to one another's presence. They should be kept separate for at least three days and have their own "sanctuary room." At this point, they may not be able to see each other, but they can hear and smell one another, so the process gets underway.

Owners can then feed both animals on either side of a closed door to help build positive associations. Once they can do this calmly, they might be ready for face-to-face meetings. They should be constantly supervised, with the dog on a leash, and reward both animals with treats for calm behavior. This should be repeated daily before they're let loose together.

Even when both animals are calm around each other, the Animal Humane Society notes that owners should proceed with caution and continue looking out for signs of aggression. They should still be separated when they're unsupervised.

Another person added: "Cats are such a menace."

And another comment jokes: "Poor Luna's life flashed before her eyes in that moment."
