Guide Dog Who Is 'Obsessed' With Soft Toys Gets Enormous Birthday Surprise

Following all her tireless work, this guide dog certainly deserved a birthday surprise to remember; and that's precisely what she got when she saw the enormous octopus toy just for her.

Bobbie Notcutt, 25, shared a video on TikTok (@bobsnotcutt) of the sweet moment her sister's guide dog, Jilly, saw the huge stuffed toy that was a gift for her third birthday. As soon as she saw it, the canine eagerly tried to jump on the octopus, grabbed its tentacles, and even tried to drag the entire toy around the house, much to everyone's amusement.

The family knew the guide dog would love the octopus. Notcutt told Newsweek that Jilly is "absolutely obsessed with soft toys." The pup already has a turtle, tortoise, duck, crab, pigs, giraffe, and now an octopus to add to her growing collection.

Since the video was shared on July 14, it has delighted social-media users and already gained almost 250,000 views and more than 23,000 likes on TikTok.

Notcutt, of London, United Kingdom, said: "My nan found it in a charity shop, and they wanted to get rid of it because it was taking up too much room. She loves to treat Jilly with toys, and it was her third birthday, but she is also very mischievous and I think she wanted to see my sister's reaction.

"At first, Jilly was eagerly jumping on it and trying to pull it by its tentacles. But when she realized that she couldn't realistically pick it up, she abandoned it for a duck toy instead."

Although Notcutt's sister, Taylor Harley, 28, couldn't see the giant plush toy as it was brought inside, she started to feel it and was astonished by how large it is. Needless to say, most of Jilly's toys are a fraction of this size, so they are much easier to store in her toy box.

"Taylor was really shocked and was also just trying to figure out where it might go in her home," Notcutt added.

The family managed to keep the stuffed toy a secret for around a month before Jilly's big day. Notcutt said that her grandma was keeping it upstairs on the bed, and though she had been warned that it was a large toy, she had no idea it was going to be that big.

The family attempted to keep it hidden under a blanket for a while, but there was no concealing it, as Notcutt said she "couldn't believe the sheer size of it."

She posted the clip on TikTok as she thought it might generate some attention, but she wasn't expecting it to go viral. The views and likes are beyond anything she had imagined, and she hopes to show just how amazing guide dogs are. They work hard, but they also love to let loose with a giant stuffed animal once in a while, too.

Among the comments on the viral video, many TikTok users praised the family for going to such extreme lengths to celebrate Jilly's birthday. One comment reads: "nan takes her great grandma duties very seriously."

Another comment reads: "The sister when she feels it and keeps feeling it... it just keeps going."

One TikTok user responded: "The dog deserves this."
