Watch Moment Bulldog Loses 'Final Brain Cell' Getting Caught in Own Leash
Walking on a leash isn't a problem for most dogs, but it proved a far more difficult task for Jim, who left the internet in stitches after he managed to get tangled up in some posts.
While she was out walking her English bulldog, owner Steff captured the hilarious moment he wandered around some metal posts, only to get his leash wrapped around them too. Once he was successfully tangled, Jim couldn't understand why he was unable to move and simply stared at his owners until they came to fix it.
If only this was the first time it happened to Jim, but Steff jokingly told Newsweek that he's "always getting himself in a tangle." It doesn't matter if it's a metal post, a tree, or even other dogs and their owners, Jim always finds a way to get his leash caught up and tied in knots.
Steff, of Chesterfield, United Kingdom, couldn't resist sharing the hilarious clip on TikTok (@jim.the.bulldog) to show Jim using "his final brain cell." The video instantly went viral, with over 516,000 views and more than 15,500 likes since it was posted on June 6.
"I decided to get my phone out and film it, as I knew exactly what was going to happen," Steff said.
"I'm so glad it made people smile, but we didn't expect it to blow up like it has done. I would say 90 percent of the social media reaction has been positive, with people finding the video really funny and relating to it."
Although Jim may not have displayed it during this moment, English bulldogs are renowned for their courage, loyalty, and tenacity, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).
They may have short and stocky frames, with a height of up to 15 inches tall and weighing up to 50 pounds, but these dogs still require moderate exercise to keep them active and mentally stimulated. The AKC recommends a brisk walk to keep them trim, but owners should be cautious not to overdo it and to monitor their breathing, especially during summer months.
While there's no doubt that Jim loves his daily walks and getting to explore on his extendable leash, he still hasn't learned that wherever he goes, the leash goes too.
How Did TikTok React?
Since the clip went viral, Steff explained that many people urged her to avoid using this longer leash so that Jim wouldn't get tangled up. But regardless of the length, he'd still manage to get his leash caught up in knots because he hardly ever walks in a straight line.
She told Newsweek: "Of course, we've had the odd few negative comments from people saying Jim should be on a better leash. He does have another leash, but we just use this for training his recall. It's always to be expected when posting on the internet, you can't make everyone laugh."
Steff has continued sharing clips of the bulldog getting his leash tangled again just to show how frequently it happens.
He may not be "the brightest spark," but with over 170 comments on the viral video so far, social media users can't get enough of Jim's silliness.
One comment reads: "You don't need brains when you're that adorable."
Another TikTok user wrote: "He did in fact not figure out what was going wrong here."
While another person joked: "He knows, he just want you to sort rather than fixing the problem himself."
