Woman Doesn't 'Need a Man' as Cat Brings Her Fresh Flowers Every Day
A cat has single-handedly raised the expectations for what people want in their relationships with one simple gesture—brightening his owner's day with flowers.
Charlotte welcomed home her feline, Albus, in February and by spring, the indoor cat started getting a taste of sunshine by hanging out on the balcony when Charlotte left the door open. She learned quickly that her eight-month-old ragdoll cat loved to be on the balcony, and it was his safe space. He specifically took an interest in smelling the plants and flowers she kept out there, all of which are cat-friendly.
But then that love of smelling the flowers turned into something more.
"After a month of smelling them, he started to grab them and bring them to me," Charlotte told Newsweek via TikTok. "Every time I met him with happiness and love, so now he really understands how much I appreciate getting his flowers, or should I say MY flowers."
In a July 13 TikTok video posted to the account @charlo.boe, Albus strolls back inside from the balcony. He walks straight to her with pride, carrying a bouquet.
The caption reads: "I don't need a man giving me flowers when I have a cutie like Albus."
Without being told, Albus knows his duty. He brings Charlotte flowers every time he is out on the balcony. He seems to know that even the simplest gesture makes her day.
Although flowers are one of the nicest objects a cat can bring to its owner, the gesture isn't all that uncommon. Plenty of cats will gift random items such as toys, socks or even dead animals to their pet parents, Vet Explains Pets reported.
The article gives a few reasons as to why cats might do this. Possibly because they see their owners as family members and they are providing for them, like they would do for their family in the wild. It's a behavior "rooted in their natural instincts."
Cats might also engage in this behavior simply because they want to show affection and make their owners happy. Sometimes they do it as a form of play. But whatever the reason, it's important to remember it's a normal cat behavior.
'A Gentleman'
The precious TikTok video quickly melted hearts, bringing in over 855,200 views, 243,800 likes and 1,426 comments as of Tuesday.
"No man could replace Albus," commented a viewer.
A second person chimed in: "In a world of boys, he's a gentleman."
Some pet parents have let a little jealousy creep into their comments, saying their cat only brings them leaves or lizards.
"I looked at my cat and sighed," said one, while another wrote: "Showing this to my cat so he can learn."
