Hysterics As Dog Thinks Park Proposal Is for Her: 'Just Stole Her Moment'
A proposal is a special moment for any couple, but one dog also found herself center stage during her owners' proposal.
In a viral video on TikTok, user @intuitive.wellness_ shared footage of the moment her now fiancé went down on one knee while on a walk in the park.
But as the man poured his heart out proposing to his partner, the couple's fluffy goldendoodle put herself front and center, sitting directly in front of owner Jackie with gleaming eyes.
"POV: My dog thinks she's getting proposed to," the text overlay on the video said.
With more than 540,000 viewers, people were in stitches at the dog putting herself in the middle of the proposal, clearly thinking the special moment was for her.
"She said 'we do,'" said LM. While Marice said: "Precious angel said 'I thought you'd never ask.'"
Other viewers said the behavior was typical of the goldendoodle breed: "It's the way the doodle just sat there like 'mom he's proposing to me....'" said viewer Jay. In a later comment, the poster joked: "I just stole her moment!"
While Camcamok quipped: "This is the doodlest of doodle things to do."
One viewer pointed out that the dog should get an important role in the upcoming wedding. "I hope she at least gets to be a bridesmaid after this disappointment," said Sunshinedaygal.
Surrounded by the excitement of a proposal, it is little surprise that the dog couldn't contain herself either. In 2017, researchers in Austria conducted a study suggesting that dogs can adopt the personality traits and emotions of their owners.
The study involved over 100 dogs and their owners who underwent various tests, including heart rate measurement and response to stress. Saliva samples were taken to measure cortisol levels, indicating stress.
Dogs were observed to mirror their owners' emotions and behaviors—just like the goldendoodle appeared to pick up on the excitement of her soon-to-be engaged couple.
This is far from the first time a dog has been involved in a proposal. In 2023, a man who asked his golden retriever for permission to propose melted hearts, while earlier this month a man filmed his beach proposal only for the couple's Labrador to take over completely when he saw the water.
