Dog Caught Tidying Up Own Toys on Pet Cam Applauded: 'Better Than My Child'

Most owners are familiar with the sight of their dog's toys lying around everywhere, but one intelligent pup has astounded social media viewers after he was captured putting all his toys away.

The incredible pet cam footage, shared on TikTok by user @ayce.and.aria, shows the moment Ayce had enough of the mess and decided to put each of his toys back in a woven basket.

Since the video was shared on July 17, it has delighted social media users, who can't get enough of the dog's intelligence, not to mention his helpfulness. The clip went viral, with over 1.4 million views and more than 233,600 likes on TikTok.

After all his hard work and organizing, Ayce didn't immediately put his paws up for some rest. Instead, he sat in front of the Furbo dog camera searching for some recognition for his stellar behavior. And, fortunately for him, he was rewarded with some treats.

The camera allows owners to trigger the release of treats via the app on their smartphone. Ayce's owner saw his good boy antics and couldn't resist rewarding him with some treats, even joking that he deserves "a gold medal."

Of course, many owners may wish they could teach their dogs this trick too—think of all the time it would save tidying up after them. The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that training them to do this behavior is a relatively simple process, but it will require plenty of practice and consistency.

The AKC says dogs should be comfortable retrieving their toys on cue and know the "drop" command too. While positioning a toy box underneath the dog's face while it is holding on to something, owners should ask it to drop the toy, allowing it to land into the box. When that happens, the AKC recommends praising the dog and giving it a reward to build a positive association.

Over time, as the dog becomes more accustomed to that, owners can move the box farther away and ask the dog to move toward it and drop the toy in there. It might not always go to plan, and sometimes the dog might miss the box accidentally, but the AKC says owners can just hand the dog the toy over the box and reinforce the idea of dropping it inside.

How Did TikTokers React?
