'Gentle Giant' Dog Obsessed With Doll Like Something out of a Horror Movie
The moment a woman's "gentle giant" pet dog runs and fetches his rather terrifying "baby" has gone viral in a video which ends with a frame like something out of a horror movie.
Darcie Bullock is on a stroll in the sun with her black Labrador retriever when she asks him a question: "Where's your baby?"
And when he drops it at her feet, TikTok users were left in pieces.
Bullock shared the clip to her account @darciebullock on July 15, while she and her dog, four-year-old Odin, were on a walk in rural Montana.
In it, Odin rushes back along the road to retrieve his "baby," goes sniffing in some grass, and then rushes back up to his owner before happily dropping the item at her feet.
The camera then pans to a half-eaten baby doll, with no hair or clothes, covered in bite marks and dirt, and with its lower half completely chewed off.
Bullock jokingly assured users in the caption of her clip that "no babies were hurt in the making of this video, just a gentle giant."
TikTok users were left in bits by the unexpected ending to the video, which has racked up close to 60,000 likes and almost one million views in a matter of days, with one writing: "Totally was NOT expecting that."
"The way he tossed that baby at your feet," one wrote, and one joked: "He said: here, you babysit."
"That baby has seen better days," another said, while one pointed out "that baby has all kinds of puncture wounds."
One TikTok user overlooked all the damage, joking instead that the baby doll was "well loved."
And one person aptly compared the doll to something out of Toy Story: viewers of the 1996 Disney phenomenon will recall the neighbor boy's mutant toys, made by smashing two toys together, including a baby doll with a shorn head, missing an eye, and with spider-like legs.
Labrador retrievers like Odin are one of the most popular breeds in the U.S., coming in second place in the American Kennel Club's 2023 list of popular dogs.
Labs had been the number one popular breed for a whopping 31 years up to 2022, when they were replaced by the French bulldog, but many across the U.S. will count them as their favorite family pet.
Known for their friendly, outgoing nature, Labrador retrievers are noted by the AKC for being affectionate with family, good with young children and good with other dogs, as well as being famously friendly.
