A dog called Hank has moved viewers on social media after his owner shared a clip of his reaction to seeing his best friend in the street.

In the heartwarming clip, shared on TikTok in July under the username hankthepithuahua, Hank can be seen taking a walk with his owner. All of a sudden, he spotted his canine best friend walking toward him.

Once he realized that this was his bestie, his excitement took over, but instead of running toward him, he started crawling impatiently all the way to his friend, as if he couldn't believe what was happening.

Experts at the website Dogster say that our pups can form best friendships with other dogs as well as humans.

Dogs are social animals that thrive on companionship, and their friendships are often based on shared play styles and mutual comfort. They can show signs of having a best friend by gravitating toward certain companions and reducing their stress in their presence.

"Determining whether your dog has a best friend isn't too difficult," Dogster says. "The next time you're at the dog park, observe where your dog naturally gravitates. Do they hang around a specific dog or group of dogs? Are they willing to share their toys, water bowl, and personal space with these dogs?

"Occasionally, your dog may even be willing to share their favorite treats and toys with a particular dog. These are all indications that your dog has formed a strong bond with their playmates," the website says.

They can also form strong bonds with humans and other animals, such as cats. Recognizing a dog's need for companionship and understanding their behavior is key to fostering these relationships.

The video quickly went viral on social media. It has so far received over 6.9 million views and 1.2 million likes.

One user, Katgvenlqna, commented: "It's because of animals that I believe there will always be beautiful souls in this world."
