Heartwarming Reason Cat Keeps Headbutting Owner: 'Teach This to Mine'
A woman recently shared a delightful video of the cat she has trained to receive kisses, which now headbutts her for a smacker on demand.
The hilarious post, shared on TikTok in July, under the username gabduffield, features a compilation of clips of the black cat headbutting her as soon as she says "kiss," waiting for her to show him some affection.
This behavior, known as bunting, is a common form of cat affection. According to an article on Rover, cats use headbutts to mark their territory and show trust and affection.
When it comes to kisses, though, not all cats are on the same page. In fact, while some cats may enjoy kisses, others might be less receptive, making it essential to understand and respect each animal's unique personality and boundaries.
The Rover article emphasizes the importance of paying attention to a cat's body language. For example, a cat that tolerates or enjoys kisses might purr, knead, or remain relaxed, while a cat uncomfortable with the gesture might flick its tail, flatten its ears, or pull away.
By observing these signals, owners can better gauge their pets' comfort levels and ensure a positive interaction.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 2.5 million views and 655,600 likes on the platform.
One user, Patrick Downs, commented: "I kissed them so often that now they associate it with affection and SLAM their faces into mine... Sometimes while I'm asleep."
Lianee018 asked: "Omg can you please explain how you trained her to do that i want to train my cat to do that." And Doopy answered: "A lot of cats just like forehead kisses so if you consistently use a verbal queue with it they'll know when to rush over and headbutt your face!"
Sha wrote: "MY CAT DOES THIS TOO EXCEPT HE AGGRESSIVELY HEADBUTTS ME EVERYTIME I SAY KISS."
Kat added: "I taught this to mine and now she comes to hug and cuddle by leaning on me until I hug her."
Cristal said: "I wish I could teach this to mineee, how cute!"
