Cat Distribution System Surprises Woman With Entire 'Spicy Family'
A woman found herself caring for a feral cat and all of her babies after the cat distribution system unexpectedly sent her an entire family of grumpy cats.
In a video shared on TikTok on Friday by user @squishystrawberry_, the feral cats can be seen hanging out on the woman's porch, eating the food she provided for them while hissing at her because they don't know how to interact with humans yet.
A caption shared with the post says: "POV: the cat distribution system sent you a spicy family now this is what every morning looks like."
While the cats in the video chose to hang out by the poster's house and befriend her, some feral cats may prefer being alone and avoid all contact with humans. Most ferals are resourceful when it comes to providing for themselves, but if you think they may be hurt, pet charity Cats Protection suggests trapping them and taking them to a vet who will be able to help them and neuter them before releasing them back into the wild.
The website explains: "They are wild animals and so find contact with humans very stressful, which is why a feral cat cannot be domesticated."
On the other hand, feral kittens may be socialized, but this process requires an expert and must be done early on in their lives. "We would never recommend trying to socialize feral kittens yourself, as there's a lot to think about and consider," Ctas Protection says.
The video quickly went viral on TikTok and has received over 1.2 million views and 164,100 likes on the platform so far.
One user, Catherine, commented: "Not mummy cat saying... 'If we are going to co-parent please try to get breakfast out on time.'"
Commenter Lexy Stephen said: "The aggression immediately even at the open door is WILD. Love a good feral cat, from a distance though."
TikToker Meg wrote, "That audacity of mama coming to the oorntonbeg for food, and then hissing and swatting at you, cats are hilarious... I'm glad they have someone to feed them."
