Face of a Dog After Potential Adopters Bailed Out on Him Breaks Hearts
A shelter dog named Zare thought he had found his forever home when a family decided to adopt him, but on the pickup day nobody showed up.
In a heartbreaking May clip shared on TikTok by the Livingston County Humane Society under the username livcohumane, Zare can be seen lying down in the kennel, looking miserable, as if he knew what had just happened.
"POV: you thought you were getting adopted last week but your family never showed up for you," a caption shared along with the video says.

A spokesperson for the Livingston County Humane Society, which is in Rowe, Illinois, told Newsweek that the shelter got Zare about six months ago.
"He is almost 4 years old, and we are guessing he is a Lab mix. We got him through transport from another shelter. Prior to his arrival, we don't know much about his story," the spokesperson said.

"He is the SWEETEST boy and would be so happy to give someone endless hugs and kisses. His ideal family would be someone who would take him out to run for a little bit, but he loves cuddling up with his person just as much," the spokesperson said.
Each year, 6.3 million pets enter U.S. shelters, which is an average of 17,260 a day, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The number of dogs and cats taken in by pet shelters hit 46,807 during January 2023, an increase of 1,744 compared with January 2022, 24Petwatch's Shelter Watch Report found.
Michigan's Humane Society of Macomb says the most common reasons for dog surrenders include age, allergies, behavioral issues, cleanup, cost, moving, new pets and shedding.
Around 920,000 surrendered animals are euthanized every year. Shelters are striving to minimize euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spaying and neutering programs and behavior rehabilitation.
The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 19,400 views and 1,883 likes.
One user, Figham, commented: "Illinois please help you must have a loving person that can love this baby please."
