Dog's 'Unconditional Love' When Finally Reunited With Owner Melts Hearts

A dog's reaction to seeing his owner return home after being abroad for some time has gone viral on TikTok, melting hearts on social media.

The adorable clip was shared to TikTok by user @blueshepherd.storm last month, revealing the memorable moment when Storm, a German shepherd, was finally reunited with his favorite human again. As soon as he laid eyes on her, Storm ran over to her and showered her with kisses. Needless to say, there was no stopping his tail from wagging during the joyous occasion.

The video highlighting the dog's "unconditional love" has delighted the internet, leading to more than 120,000 views and over 3,600 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

The caption layered over the footage explained that the two have "never been apart before," so it was undoubtedly difficult for Storm and his owner. However, it certainly meant the world to be united once again.

Newsweek has reached out to @blueshepherd.storm via TikTok and Instagram for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.

While it's widely considered that dogs have a short-term memory, Hill's Pet Nutrition explains in an article on its website that they also exhibit signs of associative and episodic memory. For example, dogs might not remember every single person they meet, but they might recall if someone gave them plenty of belly rubs, or perhaps sneaked them some treats a while ago.

Their memories are typically linked to the associations they have with the person or the act, whether good or bad.

Although we can never truly know what's going on in a dog's mind (if only), there's no doubt that 1-year-old Storm was ecstatic when he saw his owner come home. He will certainly have plenty of positive associations from his time with her—be that cuddles on the sofa, bedtime routines, or even walks in the dog park.

TikTok Users React

After the video went viral on TikTok, there was hardly a dry eye left on the internet. While social media users couldn't get enough of Storm's sweet reaction to the reunion, others lauded the smaller dog in the clip, who was trying its best to get noticed too.

Among the comments on the video, one user wrote: "German shepherds. Best dogs in the world."

Another user responded: "I love how when the big dogs get excited they are unaware of their size. Always just big pups."

"They never forget that smell," added a third user.

Meanwhile, another TikTok user couldn't help but feel sorry for the other dog in the video and wrote: "Poor little one just stood there waiting for some affection."
