Owners' Attempt To Walk Cat On Leash Goes Hilariously Wrong: 'Hell No'

A couple from Chicago tried to take their orange cat out for a walk on a leash for the first time, and their pet's hilarious "hell, no" reaction has gone viral on TikTok.

The video shared on the platform, under the username lucky_cat911, shows the poster's boyfriend trying to lead the way at the park, but the cat has other ideas.

As soon as the cat realizes what's happening, he looks scared and climbs up the boyfriend's arm to get back inside the backpack carrier which he arrived in. The pet just wants to go home, and looks a long way out of his comfort zone.

"Me and my boyfriend decided to take our cat out for the first time, his reaction," says a caption shared along with the hilarious clip.

Taking your cat for a walk can help improve its health and happiness, but how do you choose the best harness for them? Dr. Christian Broadhurst, a senior veterinarian at Clay Humane in Florida, previously told Newsweek that a well-fitting harness is crucial.

Broadhurst recommends this instead of a leash attached to a collar, to avoid potential choking hazards. He says the harness should be snug enough to prevent the cat from escaping but not so tight that it cuts into the skin.

There are three types of harnesses: H-shape, walking jackets, and vest harnesses. According to cat behavior expert Pam Johnson-Bennett, your choice depends on your cat's comfort with the amount of fabric.

H-shape harnesses offer more freedom but are easier to slip out of, walking jackets are the safest but bulkier, and vest harnesses provide a balance of safety and freedom.
