'Lazy' English Bulldog Goes To Great Lengths To Avoid Walkies
An English bulldog named Hilda has left the internet in stitches after her owner caught her on camera trying her best to avoid going on a daily walk.
In a post shared on TikTok in July under the username hilda092020, the pup can be seen hiding from her owner, who is trying to take her out to get her daily dose of exercise—something she clearly hates.
"Hilda, where are you? Let's go walkies!" the owner can be heard asking, as the pup quickly hides under the bed. "Let's go walkies now come on you need your exercise," the owner adds.
The poster even tries to explain to Hilda that she needs exercise to keep her weight under control, but she won't take any of it.
"Hilda the lazy bulldog..." read a caption shared alongside the hilarious clip.
While most dogs love walking and running, and everything that has to do with physical activity, others hate moving at all. That can be due to many factors, including anxiety and fear, negative associations, boredom, and lack of socialization to mention a few. But what can you do to get your dog to move?
According to Dogster, you should exercise them more to build resilience and reduce stress, and you can do this by starting slowly and steady.
"If your dog is reluctant to walk, start with short, low-pressure walks, and gradually increase the duration and intensity as they become more comfortable," the website explains.
You can bribe your pup with treats as a reward for their effort, and make it fun by taking new routes or bringing along their favorite toys. It is also important to listen to your dog and remove them from the situation if they feel uncomfortable, while always being gentle and patient with them.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 440,400 views and 34,700 likes on the platform.
One user, Claudia, commented: "Hilda says 'go walk yourself woman I have a day off."
SavageKat_GenX72 wrote: "My Emma likes to go for walks, but as soon as she's finished she has to be carried the rest of the way home."
Den added: "The way my dogs jump at this opportunity even though I have a Hilda attitude towards walkies."
