Dog Who Says Hi to Stray Cat Bestie Every Morning Melts Hearts: 'Adopt Her'
Despite popular culture having us believe that cats and dogs are each others' worst enemies, the two can actually be best of friends, even if they don't live together.
A post shared on TikTok by @tuckerandshannon shows the special friendship between a Dalmatian and a stray orange cat.
In the heartwarming clip, the pup can be seen dragging his mom toward the cat and then smelling him before starting to play like real best friends.

A caption shared along with the viral clip explains: "Every morning, my dog drags me to say hi to his stray cat friend."
The poster, Shannon from San Diego, told Newsweek that her dog is now eight years old and that every morning, he drags her out to greet his bestie.
"Every morning, we walk along the beach and see the orange cat. The cat chills on the boardwalk and enjoys lots of attention from everyone passing," Shannon said.
Cats and dogs have historically been portrayed as enemies, but this narrative isn't true.

A study carried out by Italian scientists and published in 2020 in the journal PLOS ONE surveyed 1,270 pet owners who own both a cat and a dog and found that the two can easily cohabitate without much conflict.
Findings from the study showed that over 64 percent of the cats and dogs living together also played together, 58 percent chased each other and 41 percent fought. Almost two-thirds of the pets sometimes playfully "ambushed" each other.
Dr. Nick Horniman, a veterinary surgeon with over 30 years of experience and the founder of the online pet pharmacy MyPetsVet, told Newsweek that even though we've grown up buying into the myth that dogs and cats are sworn enemies, this isn't the case in most instances. It can be completely normal for a dog to eagerly greet its feline friends, a behavior he often sees as a veterinarian.

"Dogs and cats can form strong bonds, especially when raised together or introduced in a positive and safe environment. Their interactions reflect the mutual comfort and trust that has grown between the two of them," Horniman said.
"In many cases, these interspecies friendships are beneficial, reducing feelings of loneliness for both pets, and they can be just as excited to see each other as our pets can be to see us when we return home each day."
Shannon's video soon went viral on TikTok. It has received over 340,200 views and 56,800 likes on the platform so far. Viewers were quick to suggest she take the cat in and have the besties live together.
One user, Stacey, commented: "What do you mean STRAY? Please get that kitty a home even if it's not yours I beg you."
User Erika Shae wrote, "Please tell me you're gonna bring this baby home so they can grow old together..."
"I'm sure that kitty has a home, he probably loves being outside! He's ear tipped and chunky! Extra toes are a plus," another user named Katie commented.
Julian Vicente Vanqu wrote, "You're a great owner because dalmatians are HARD to train. we had one growing up and she was so mean no matter what we did. it warms my heart to see your Dalmatian so gentle."
One comment simply said: "Adopt her."
