Labrador retrievers are known for their love of the water, and they can never have enough. However, not all dogs like water; in fact, some will do anything to avoid it. But what makes these pups so afraid?

Dog wellness experts Rover say that, if your dog's only experience with water is during bath time, they may not like it in other scenarios. And if they have never seen anything bigger than a tub, the unfamiliar situation of larger bodies of water may also overwhelm them.

However, your pup's aversion to water could just be part of its personality. "Some dogs are more anxious, period, and others aren't inclined to take risks like diving into a suspicious new substance," the Rover pet resource website added.

But what can you do to help your pup overcome this fear? The first step is to take it slow and avoid forcing it upon your dog. You can bribe him with treats. It is essential to start in calm waters so they are less frightened.
