Six Puppies Abandoned in Pennsylvania Dog Park With Heartbreaking Note
Morrisville Borough Police were called to the Morrisville Dog Park early on August 10th, 2024, where they found six abandoned dogs with a heartbreaking note.
When officers arrived around 7 a.m., they were met with a distressing scene: six dogs, all between 50 and 60 pounds, running freely in the local dog park. Alongside them was a note explaining what had led to their presence.
The note read:
"Dear person who finds these dogs,
I rescued them from an old lady who has too many dogs. These are puppies from her dogs that keep getting pregnant. The brown ones she said are 1.5 years old and the fluffy ones are less than one year. I don't know their names. I was able to convince her to let me take them because she ran out of dog food. If I left them there, they will get pregnant too. I tried taking them to my apartment but it's no dogs allowed. Someone saw me and snitched. This is the safest place I could think of to put them. I hope they find homes."
The note ended abruptly, leaving the fate of these innocent animals in the hands of strangers. As police attended to the scene, three of the dogs were immediately adopted by caring neighbors.
The remaining three dogs were taken to the Bucks County SPCA in Lahaska, Pennsylvania, where they are now waiting for the perfect home.
The Morrisville Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and is eager to speak with the person who initially rescued the dogs from their original owner.
In a statement, Corporal Lew Halas of the Morrisville Borough Police Department said: "The Morrisville Police are still investigating and would like to speak with the person responsible for saving these dogs from their original owner and then bringing them to Morrisville. At this time, the Morrisville Police Department is more concerned about the remaining animals that are in the care of the original owner."
Newsweek reached out to Morrisville Borough Police via email for comment.
Authorities said that while the person's intentions were to help, abandoning dogs is never the answer. The police department urged anyone who is unable to care for their animals to seek assistance from local shelters like the SPCA rather than leaving them in potentially dangerous situations.
They also encourage anyone with information regarding this case or any other instances of animal neglect to contact Bucks County SPCA or the Morrisville Borough Police Department.
