Cat Surrendered With Blanket Refuses To Let Go of 'Last Piece of Home'

Animals who are surrendered to shelters have their entire lives turned upside down. It's a new environment with new belongings, sounds and people. But one cat was determined to hold onto his home for as long as possible.

An orange cat was surrendered to an animal shelter with his blanket from home. It wasn't just a piece of home for this cat. It was his last memory of his family. The familiar smell reminded him of home and likely comforted him as he moved into the stressful shelter environment. And he clung onto his blankie every moment of every day.

TikTok user @savannapalmerr shared in a July 29 TikTok video how she would find this surrendered cat every morning. His bright pink blanket was spread across the floor of his kennel and he would be lumped inside, blocking out the reality of his life in the shelter.

She gently removed the blanket to reveal the cat's face and gave him pets. He accepted the attention before crawling back into his "last piece of home." As the caption explained, this cat "never wanted to leave his blankie."

The blanket was the only thing from his previous life that came with him to the shelter. He curled himself into the blanket and never wanted to leave it. It was his comforting shield that surrounded him with familiar smells and memories.

Thankfully, his new forever family stepped forward and adopted him. He'll get all new belongings and will once again be showered with love and endless snuggles. TikTokers shared their hope that he got to keep this blanket to bring him comfort in his new home.
