A woman shared her video of a barn owl flying around the inside of her home after it made an unexpected visit, and the Hogwarts jokes started winging their way to her via online comments.

In a video on TikTok by @delinnorfolk, which has gained over 100,000 views, the woman captured the moment the majestic bird swooped into her living room after entering through the chimney.

The encounter took place around 8 a.m., when the owl, known to frequent a neighboring barn, ventured inside the woman's U.K. home in the county of Norfolk. "It lives in the barn next door and we see it flying about a lot but never inside," the homeowner explained in the comments.

Barn owls, known for their distinct heart-shaped faces and ghostly white feathers, are one of the most widely distributed bird species in the world, found on every continent except Antarctica.

They typically measure between 13 to 15 inches and have a wingspan of 31 to 37 inches. Norfolk, with its flat and undulating landscapes, provides an ideal environment for these birds, offering abundant hunting grounds where they prey on small mammals like voles and mice.

It isn't unheard of for barn owls to venture into human dwellings. As cavity nesters, owls often seek sheltered spots to roost or nest, while nearby fields and the proximity of the barn could also attract them to the house.

The video sparked reactions from viewers who were stunned by the unusual wildlife encounter.

"Not the owl just staring at you like it was your fault," laughed Tyla.

Others were quick to make a few well-placed jokes referencing the Harry Potter series. Ash_Niht quipped: "I'd be fuming if this happened and no Hogwarts letter."

While Just_Conway said: "Someone got their letter!" TikToker Ally said: "I know you didn't get a letter, but somebody in your house is definitely going to Hogwarts."

In the Harry Potter series of books and films, owls deliver non-muggle mail, especially acceptance letters to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Some others referenced the 1986 movie Labyrinth. "Jareth trying to lure you to his Labyrinth," said gemma.flinders92.

In the film the barn owl represents Jareth, the Goblin King, played by David Bowie.

Others expressed delight at seeing such an incredible animal up close. Laughelsecry! commented: "Wow! What a blessing to have such a beautiful creature pay you a visit."

"I would literally be in heaven! My fav bird," Adam wrote.

Thankfully, the owl made its own way out of the house to safety, much to the relief of the poster, the owl, and viewers in the comments.
