Man Told His 'Dog Didn't Want to Leave Daycare'—Photos Reveal Why

Dog owners with long work hours or unpredictable schedules often drop off their pets at a daycare for exercise, playtime and stimulation. And sometimes, when dogs are having too much fun, they don't want to leave.

Andy Hunt, who is known on Reddit as Mysterious-Cat-3312, recently learned it the hard way when picking up his Pyrenees and golden retriever mix. His dog, Rainbow, befriended another canine while at doggy daycare. Although some are speculating that the dogs became more than friends—lovers at first sight.

Hunt's Reddit post on June 12 shared to the subreddit r/aww shows Rainbow lying down all buddy-buddy with another dog. The other dog's paw rested on Rainbow's paw as if they were holding hands. Their heads nuzzled up together. Content in this spot, neither wanted to move.

The caption reads: "The day my dog didn't want to leave daycare."

The dogs instantly became love birds, attached at the hip. The other dog looked annoyed in one of the photos that someone dare interrupt their special moment.

Hunt shared with Newsweek via Reddit that it was the first time he had seen Rainbow with this dog. But that is also because they have been frequenting this doggy daycare recently. Hopefully, the two besties can get back to their snuggle session soon enough.

Redditor Reactions

The Reddit post quickly gained attention, reaching more than 41,000 likes and 364 comments as of Friday.

"Married and everything already," commented one Redditor.

Another said: "'Of all the pup joints in all the towns in all the world, they walked into mine,' one of those dogs, probably."

A third person chimed: "This is the kind of thing that made working at doggy daycare worthwhile. Watching all the relationships develop."

Should You Use a Doggy Daycare?

While plenty of pet parents benefit from dropping their dogs off at daycare, it's important to note that not every dog will love it. Each dog has different needs. It is up to the owner to decide if the doggy daycare environment is right for their canine.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) highlighted the benefits of using a doggy daycare, which include meeting and playing with other dogs, mental stimulation, a routine that relieves separation anxiety or boredom and exercise.

If interested in using a daycare, the AKC also recommends observing a location before dropping off your dog. Look for the facility's cleanliness, organization, any hazards, comfortable temperature and if there is enough staff to ensure safety. This is also the perfect time to ask the staff questions.
