What Dad Does for Dog Recovering From Surgery Hailed 'Greenest Flag'
A dad's selfless act toward making the dog feel more comfortable post-surgery has earned him praise and respect among viewers.
Scott and Mackenzie Weeden's labrador Dublin recently received ACL surgery following an incident that seemingly occurred out of nowhere. Mackenzie told Newsweek via email that they were on a walk with Dublin and his best doggy friend Goose when Dublin unexpectedly pulled up in pain.
The 2-year-old dog fully tore his ACL and went through a TPLO surgery at BluePearl Vet Clinic in Boston, Mackenzie said. A dog's recovery post-ACL surgery can typically last four to six weeks; however, recovery for more severe cases could be six months. In Dublin's case, his estimated recovery time is about three to four months.

"The first two weeks were especially tough as he was completely immobile—no jumping, running, or stairs," she said. "After that, it's another 6 weeks where he can go out for walks but must stay on a leash. He still can't jump or run."
Dublin was forced to wear a cone for the first two weeks and then on and off during weeks three and four. The surgery recovery also meant no snuggling up on the couch with his owners. However, the owners weren't accepting that as an option.
In an August 20 TikTok video posted to the account @got_thedub, Scott adjusted to meet Dublin's needs. He sacrificed his comfort to be with his fur baby on the floor. And it's not just one or twice. Scott refuses to be on the sofa at all without Dublin.
The sofa was Dublin's favorite spot. It's where the three of them, Mackenzie, Scott and Dublin, would decompress at the end of the day. They decided to move to the floor to keep Dublin company and to keep the connection.

"The moment Scott joined Dublin on the floor post-surgery, Dublin was able to relax and get some rest," she said. "The bond between the two of them is incredible, and I think Scott being there meant everything to Dublin."
Mackenzie added that it was a no-brainer for Scott to join Dublin on the floor. It's just one of the ways they are returning the favor to Dublin for always being there for them.

Plus, Scott looked relatively comfortable on the floor. He rested his head on the doggy bed that Dublin shared happily, instead of the hard floors. Dublin then slept soundly side by side with Scott.
'Fur love at its finest'
The heartwarming TikTok video quickly amassed over 526,600 views, 108,600 likes and 994 comments as of Thursday.
"That's the greenest flag I've ever seen," said a viewer, while a second added: "100/10 dog dad."
Another added: "I judge a human by the way he treats his dogs. This is fur love at it's finest."
And it's clear the dog loves the gesture. Someone pointed out: "That dog appreciates that so much. His paw on him was absolutely adorable."
