Dogs Falling in Love While Stuck in Traffic Melt Hearts
A pair of pit bulls who met while stuck in traffic have melted hearts online after one of the pups' owners shared video proof of them falling in love with each other at first sight, which has left the internet in hysterics.
The heartwarming video, shared on TikTok in June, under the username @hopeiretixl, shows the two pit bulls, each with their owners, staring at each other through the windows while their cars are stuck in traffic.
The girl dog, in the poster's car, can be heard panting and waving her tail energetically, as if excited to be talking to the other pup. The pit bull in the opposite car is also so taken by the situation that he starts barking at his beloved.
"POV: When you stuck in traffic and witness love at first sight," says a caption shared along with the viral clip.
If you were wondering whether dogs can in fact fall in love with one another, the answer is yes! Dog wellness experts at Rover explain that dogs' brains release oxytocin, also known as "love hormone," when they interacted positively with other dogs.
"Interestingly though, researchers found that the dogs' oxytocin levels didn't rise from initiating interactions—they rose when their fellow dogs reciprocated. In other words, your pup loves it when their friends love them back!" the website said.
Signs that your pup may be in love with another dog include tail wagging when in their presence, playing together, enjoying play time and cuddle time with them, and just hanging out together like people do.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 602,100 views and 93,800 likes on the platform.
One user, Megancarmichael, commented: "What I love more is two men acknowledging the love between their dogs."
BrandyRo said: "Pov: the dogs are actually enemies and can't stand each other."
H15LYA wrote: "You should've took them both to the park and let their love blossom."
🇱🇨EmpMartial🇱🇨 added: "I'm sooo happy that ain't my leg coz the pain, but that was cute both dogs are beautiful."
