Dog Tries to Join Owner's Workout: 'Catchin' the Zoomies'
A rottweiler named Diesel has left social media viewers laughing over his antics while his owner was trying to work out.
In the hilarious video, shared on TikTok in June under the username @thesydneylauren_, the 75-pound dog can be seen interrupting his owner mid-workout, and trying to get involved too, before "catching the zoomies." The dog is seen running back and forth across the room as his owner tries to get him out.
"POV you want to work out at home but you have a big puppy," says a caption with the viral video.
Described as short and excessive bursts of energy that seem to come out of nowhere and then quickly stop, the zoomies are something that every dog owner is familiar with. But what causes them?
The American Kennel Club says the technical term for the zoomies is frenetic random activity periods, or FRAPs.
FRAPs are caused by a buildup of energy, which a dog then releases in a frantic surge. This is why it's common for them to get the zoomies after a stressful vet visit or spotting another canine at the park. FRAPs can come in several forms, from darting in circles around the yard to dashing up and down the stairs.
The video has so far received over 3 million views and 216,300 likes on the platform.
One user, Father Christmas, commented: "Not him catchin the zoomies like it's the Holy Ghost."
Another, Chloe, said: "You gotta run forward mom, you're not going anywhere, look run like this."
