Jaws Drop Over Photos of Rare Chihuahua and Black Lab Mix, the 'Chibrador'
An uncommon dog mix recently struck a chord with Reddit users in the best way possible.
Pictures of this unique and adorable dog was posted to Reddit's r/rarepuppers last Monday where it has quickly amassed over 1,200 upvotes. Users on the social media platform couldn't get over the rescue Chihuahua and Labrador mix that user u/MichaelJMakowski adopted.
The crossbreed—sometimes known as a Labrahuahua or Chihuahuador—stood out to Reddit users because of its unusual looks. The tiny, black dog has the stature of a Chihuahua, but its floppy and folded-over ears scream Labrador.

The owner told Newsweek via Reddit messenger that the dog was adopted from Rags 2 Riches Animal Rescue in Pennsylvania. However, a comment in the comments section revealed that the dog was originally rescued from Texas.
"From the research I have done, it seems that they got this breed through artificial insemination," the owner said. "My guess would be that the mother would be the Lab."
An article from Wag Walking confirmed the owner's research, stating that this cross-bred dog is between a female Labrador Retriever and a male Chihuahua. Breeders must use artificial insemination due to the two dog breeds' vastly different sizes.
This rare dog breed can range in size but is generally considered a small to medium-sized canine. They can reach up to 8 inches and weigh about 65 pounds but often grow closer to the size and stature of a Chihuahua, Wag Walking's article added. They have a life expectancy of about 15 years.

Newsweek previously reported on a unique colorpoint dachshund mix. The dog's fur color stood out because it "is akin to that of a Siamese cat." Meanwhile, a litter of puppies also made headlines when a shelter reached out for help in naming the pups' unique mix—goldendoodle and pit bull mix.
Reddit Users React
Reddit users quickly fell in love with the dog calling him "super rare" but also "super cute."

"What a fine Chibrador you have," commented a user, while another added: "I need to see how big he gets. He's so cute."
However, others were convinced in the comments section that the dog looked more like a Chihuahua and a pit bull mix. The owner wrote that the Chihuahuador mix is what the animal rescue listed, and he has not done a DNA test to confirm the dog's breed.
