Woman Takes Dog to the Vet for His Ears, Then the Tables Turn

What started as a vet appointment for an owner's dog quickly turned into a promotion for the good boy.

Emily Peoples brought her 3-year-old Labrador and golden retriever mix, Walsh, to the vet clinic to get ear medication, according to her July 13 TikTok video posted to the account @walsh.the.blab. She told Newsweek that Walsh hates getting the medication, but he always puts his best paw forward and gets it done.

It also helps that he has his "emotional support" toy every time he goes to the vet. A personal favorite of his is the french fry toy, which he wouldn't let go of at the beginning of the video. But by the end of the clip, Walsh has dropped the toy and picked up "dogtor" duties. Walsh stepped up to the plate, put on a white coat and became the clinic's newest vet, offering a second opinion on his treatment.

The second half of the video shows a picture of Walsh wearing his doctor's coat. His front paws are on the counter and a big smile is on his face. He was more than ready to follow in his owner's footsteps and enter the veterinary field.

"I am a vet student and Walsh borrowed my white coat for the picture!" Peoples said. "Me and another vet tech helped him put it on. He was bribed with peanut butter to smile for the camera."

Peoples said the dog does have his own specifically made white coat. It even has his name on it, but they didn't have it at the time of the photo.

"Walsh grew up going to work with me at the vet clinic, so he actually loves to go," she said. "Sometimes if he's being extra wiggly he gets some peanut butter. He also makes sure he says hi to everyone—the receptionists, the vet techs, the kennel techs and the doctors."

The extra attention he gets while using his emotional support toy is another reason Walsh doesn't mind being at the vet, Peoples said, although he is through with taking the ear medication.

Viewers fell in love with Walsh's adorableness and eagerness to work. The TikTok video has over 300,200 views, 24,100 likes and 27 comments as of Monday.

"TikTok asked me if this video was worth my time. 10/10 absolutely," said a viewer.

Another added: "Yeah because he's qualified. He's a lab in a lab coat in a lab."

It's as if he was born to be in that job.

Others couldn't get over what the dog uses as emotional support. "I, too, have emotional support fries so I can support this," wrote one user.
