'Good Boy' Dog Silently Judges the New Puppy Owner Tried to 'Rehabilitate'
The polar opposite personalities of two cocker spaniel siblings have left viewers online in stitches.
The contrasting temperaments of Amy Wilson's pets were on full show as they both awaited their dinner—one with much more patience and composure than the other. Wilson, owner to 18-month-old Odin and his lively sibling Bonnie, 13 months, captured the pair's stark differences and shared them in a post to TikTok on May 29.
"Odin is a very soft soul of a dog, he is very well-trained and just wants to be loved," Wilson, 28, who is based in the U.K, said. "Bonnie, well, we got her a few months ago and on her first walk her lead snapped. She went missing for three days, and when we finally got her home she came out of her very timid self and turned into a complete lovable nutter!"
"The period when she went missing was a complete nightmare," she added.
Viewers were able see the two dogs waiting side by side for their dinner, Bonnie with much more gusto than her elder brother. The female dog was filmed barking loudly and leaping up and down, unable to contain her excitement at the prospect of being fed soon. Odin, however, sat silently with a comically judgmental expression on his face.
An overlaid text on the video read: "When you were bought up to be a good Christian boy and wait nicely for din dins but mum decided to try and rehabilitate a crackhead."
"The good boy and the devil," Wilson said. "The video is of a very good boy waiting patiently for his dinner and his nutter of a sister who refuses to sit and likes to argue until you give her what she wants!"
"Two very different crazy lovable cocker spaniels," she added.
To date, more than 74,000 users have watched Wilson's video. Many shared comments on the relationship between Odin and his rambunctious new sibling.
"I feel like [she's] trying so hard to stay still but just doesn't have the ability," one user wrote.
Another added: "My dogs have this exact dynamic. Every day wondering why we got a puppy as our third dog, she's a complete nutter."
"You can see the weariness in the eyes," a third user shared.
Another added: "A classic spaniel."
The American Kennel Club (AKC) describes the breed as being both energetic and eager to play, making them suited to households with young children. But "calm" Odin is not the exception to the rule, as the pet registry adds that the breed is known to be "gentle" and relatively easy to train. Wilson is looking to take the male spaniel's training even further, and put his soft aura to good use as a therapy animal.
"I'm actually looking at signing Odin up to be a pet therapy dog as he is such a gentle soul and would make anyone melt," Wilson said.
The pet owner lives with her 7-year-old daughter Issy, her partner Jack and the family's third dog, a 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier named Barney.
She shared that the senior dog "has no time for tweedle dee and tweedle dumb," if viewers were left wondering why he had not made a longer appearance in the viral clip alongside his now internet-famous siblings.
