Owner 'Frantically' Looks for Her Cat, Not Prepared for Where She Finds Him
A pet owner from Florida has left the internet in hysterics after revealing where she found her cat after spending ages looking for him around the house.
In a post shared on TikTok in August, under the username @findingmyshine, the poster is walking from room to room, trying to find her cat who she calls her "little void," worrying when she can't see him anywhere. Then, suddenly she realizes where he's been all along.
"When you have walked through your house frantically looking for your little void - only to walk past him twice until he opened his eyes," reads the layover text in the clip.
The cat was resting on a black leather chair in the living room, and because of his black fur matching the color of the chair, his owner wasn't able to see him until he opened his big green eyes, which indeed stood out from the background.
"Those little voids have a way of hiding," says a caption shared along with the hilarious viral video.
Black cats are statistically about 50 percent less likely to be adopted than other cats, and according to a Psychology Today article from 2020, there are three main reasons behind this.
One is that many people think black cats are less friendly than others, even though this claim has no scientific basis, and black cat owners swear their kitties are the sweetest in the world.
Another reason is superstition, as black cats have long been associated with bad luck, even though this is also just a myth. Last but not least, some people avoid adopting black cats because they feel that they're not able to read their emotions.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 741,300 views and 121,300 likes on the platform.
One user, Succupire, commented: "Rule 1 of owning a black cat, always check dark spots first they love blending in with other void like spaces."
Kitty said: "Me, also a void mom, squinting at every dark shape you passed."

Ciarapratt705 added: "If it's dark I always think my black cat is a pile of clothes, then he always mysteriously pops up from nowhere."
