Foster Dog Who 'Waits by Her Bed' Every Night To Be Tucked In Melts Hearts

A foster dog's sense of ease in her temporary home has melted the hearts of viewers online.

Amy, the foster dog, was captured waiting by her bed for her current fosterer to tuck her in under a small blanket. The tender moment was filmed by Amy's current carers and shared to TikTok on August 2 by @dogbowlchallenge. The dog's sweet bedtime routine has been viewed more than 210,000 times and liked by more than 19,000 users.

"Amy is my adorable foster dog, and my goal to help save shelter dogs and educate the public," Amy's fosterer, who would prefer to keep her identity private, told Newsweek.

Viewers were able to see Amy waiting patiently in her bed for her fosterer, who soon walked towards her and gave her a peck on the snout. She then proceeded to tuck the canine under a small blanket and settle her into bed. The short clip captures the good that fostering can do for vulnerable shelter animals who are yet to find their forever home. Amy has been living with her foster family for around two months.

An overlaid text on the video read: "Come with me to tuck my foster dog into bed, every night she waits by her bed to get tucked in, she likes to sleep with all her stuffed animals—her babies, sweet dreams, Amy!"

Viewers on TikTok have shared how moved they were by the dog's sense of trust and ease in her new surroundings in the comments section. Some have urged Amy's fosterer to adopt her after the fostering period ends, due to how well the dog has taken to her current home.

"You have to keep her. She's so happy with you," one viewer, @howy12345, posted.

Another, @everyonesauntjill, added: "We have had one of our rescues six years. I still cover her up every night. I just have to remind her she is home."

"No matter what age they are all just babies," a third viewer, @wes2105, shared.

"I don't think I could foster dogs," another, @user1276687879404, commented. "I'd fall in love and never want to let them go."

"Oh goodness, she's the sweetest little girl," @genxkeds wrote.

The post had been captioned: "We've had our foster Amy for two months and this quickly became a favorite evening routine. She waits by her bed to get tucked in every night."
