Social media users have had their hearts melted after seeing how a husky who was dubbed "aggressive" gradually learned to love the new puppy, and now they're practically inseparable.

The adorable clip was shared on TikTok by user @honeythehusky_ showing the dog's anger toward the puppy when they first met. The husky, named Honey, repeatedly bared her teeth and had to wear a muzzle during the early days, but her owner didn't lose hope that one day they'd become friends.

Over time, Honey learned to love her Malinois sibling and footage shows them happily playing together in the house and out in the yard. The duo has become incredibly close ever since, and pictures show them laying together just about everywhere they go.

Footage showing their gradual friendship has delighted the internet, generating more than 1.2 million views and over 211,500 likes on TikTok so far.

Layered over the clip, the caption reads: "You can't bring a puppy home with an aggressive dog in the house." But when the video flashes forward to the pair getting along, it changes to: "If you could see 'em now, you'd be proud."

Introducing any resident dog (whether they're reactive or not) to a new dog should be done with caution and patience. The Humane Society of the United States explains that they should meet on neutral territory, and if they don't display any negative behaviors, they should be rewarded with treats.

Owners should pay close attention to their body language, and if either dog shows a defensive or wary response, they should quickly be distracted by something else.

It's important that the dogs determine the pace of their integration, and they shouldn't be forced to interact. The Humane Society highlight that the more patient owners are, the better the chances of success.

Of course, as the introductions continue and they see each other more often (and in their new home), owners should continue rewarding good behavior with high value treats. They want to build positive associations with their new sibling, which rewards and praise can help with.
